Several years ago we were entering our first homeschool geography fair. Part of the fair was to have a finger food from your country at your table to share. Our country was South Korea. One reason we chose South Korea was because my aunt and uncle had lived there since 1978, so I knew I could get authentic recipes and send my aunt the money to ship us items for our display. She suggested yakimandu for our finger food. It was a huge hit! In fact, the children of one family could never remember my name; they just called me the yakimandu lady whenever they saw me. 🙂
I hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
1 lb ground pork or beef ; or 1/2 lb each
1/4 cup grated carrot
1/4 cup finely chopped onion or 1 tsp onion powder
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4-1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Mix all ingredients except wrappers.
Spoon 1 teaspoon meat mixture onto wonton. Seal with water around edges in triangular shapes.
Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
