Oh my word! These triple chocolate peanut butter rice Krispy treats are phenomenal!

Chocolaty rice cereal coated with chocolate chips and Hershey’s Kisses that have been melted together with marshmallows and peanut butter. Need I say more?

A word of advice: cut small squares because they are RICH.

History of Triple Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treats

I did not invent Rice Krispy treats, but I did invent another way to take them to a whole new level!

I love Rice Krispy treats! And I also love chocolate and peanut butter mixed together. IMO, it’s probably the best combination in all of food history. Why not combine my love of Rice Krispy treats with my love of chocolate peanut butter? Oh, look! I have a family size box of Mom’s Best cocoa rice cereal in my pantry unopened. And there’s half of a bag of Hershey’s Kisses. Let’s do this!

I’ve made so many batches Rice Krispy treats over the last three decades, I did not even need to look at the original recipe. Butter – check. Marshmallows – check. Vanilla – check. (I add vanilla even when making a batch of plain original Rice Krispy Treats.) Add in peanut butter – check. Follow that with Kisses and chocolate chips – check. Everything is melted and blended – check. Swap cocoa cereal for the plain rice cereal called for – check!

Recommendation

I prefer Mom’s Best brand of cocoa crispy cereal. IMO, the name brand is not nearly as chocolaty. If you can’t find Mom’s Best in your area, I recommend Cocoa Pebbles.

Helpful Tip

To make pressing hot marshmallowy cereal into the pan easier, use a piece of parchment paper that has been lightly sprayed with cooking spray.

Recipe

Ingredients

• 6 tablespoons butter
• 1 cup peanut butter
• 24 Hershey’s Kisses
• 2 oz dark chocolate or 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 2  10.5oz bags miniature marshmallows
• 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
• 1 large family size box crispy cocoa rice cereal

Directions

1. Lightly spray 9×13 pan with cooking spray. Set aside.
2. In a large pot, melt butter.
3. Add peanut butter, Kisses, dark chocolate, & marshmallows. Stir until melted.
4. Next, stir in vanilla. Then stir in cereal.
5. Press into 9×13 pan.
